NOVEMBER 25, 2018 Wind Warnings

In the past two weeks...we have....

*watched and enjoyed the progress on the house.

The siding is attached and it is beautiful.  I will take the "good" camera tomorrow to take picture.  The tile is applied and grouted.  The furnace is installed. Crews will be busy this week as the interior doors are ready to install; wood floors will be installed; kitchen and bath cabinets are on floor ready to be attached to the walls; baseboard and window trim is ready to be painted and attached.

We are beginning to have hope that we will be able to be in the house by December 11.

*gone to a a couple of doctors for some testing.  We are awaiting results and consultations with doctors.

*flag football season is over.

Zade and team finished the season Undefeated and the winner of the league tournament.  Looking at the calendar, I bet I already shared this news.  As I used to tell my mother, "twice is better than not at all!"

*Thanksgiving has come and gone.
Ramsey Branch, our new home community, hosted a dinner on Tuesday last week.  It is good to get a head start on knowing our neighbors.  One more house is under construction; and I think construction on  three or four more is being discussed.

On T'giving Day Darin grilled/smoked a turkey breast and brisket, which was delicious.  Sarah prepared the side dishes; I prepared the dressing and a pecan pie.  We watched some football and discussed shopping on Black Friday.  Sarah did some online shopping.  Friday Glen and I did go to two stores.  Ace Hardware didn't have on sale what we were looking for; but Tractor Supply did--suet cakes for the birds--on sale two boxes for $10.  Big spenders, aren't we.

*the weather! Let's talk about the weather. Everybody talks about the weather.

By this time of the year we are usually in south Texas!  and, there is a reason why!  It has been cold and It has been snowy.
Thursday, the 15th there was enough show on the ground for it to be declared a "snow day".  There have been lows in the 21-22 degree range.  On the other hand, the past three days it has reached 60 degrees.  But, wait!  Monday and Tuesday and Wednesday highs will be in the upper 30's and lows back in the 20's.  The wind is blowing 20-22 mph with gusts predicted to reach 40 mph.

Cold weather in a motor home is a challenge!  All hoses must be unhooked from water faucet to avoid frozen pipes and hoses.  We are keeping the onboard fresh water tank filled to be used when everything is disconnected.  Propane tank must be kept filled.  The heat pump does not operate below 40 degrees; at which point the propane furnace kicks on.

We have had to wear shoes and socks, long pants, and coats.  All of which is usually unnecessary
in south Texas!!!

*the calendar!

A month from today is Christmas!

November 12, 2018 More than two weeks! (Still at Landing Point RV Park, Cape Girardeau MO)

Wow, I just looked to see when the last blog was dated.

As my younger brother said in a conversation yesterday: "going to doctors keep me busy!"  We totally agree with that statement.

Glen and I have seen the dermatologist, the thyroid doctor, the family doctor, the back doctor, the oncologist, and the dentist.  Yep, a doctor for just about every body part!  We are doing well for the shape we are in!!!

Baseball and flag football and volleyball have all come to a close.  Zade's flag football team was undefeated for the season.  He was all smiles Saturday.  Glen asked him yesterday if he slept with his trophy.  He said "no", but it was in the room with him!

Saturday's flag football play-offs were played in 38 degree weather.  Br-r-r!

Ashlynn tried and and made a traveling volleyball team.  She is having lots of training/practice and learning lots.

Are you making plans for Thanksgiving?

Other than, or after the doctors' appointments we are making choices and checking on the house.  All of the indoor painting is finished; all the lights/ceiling fans/plugs are done---except the bathroom vanity lights.  The electrician said he would install those after the cabinets and mirrors are hung so as to get them centered correctly.

This week we are hoping, and assuming flooring and inside doors will be done.  Garage doors and vinyl siding should be arriving this week, and installed quickly after that.

Estimated completion date is still December 11, a month from yesterday!  😁 We are anxious and excited!

Nasty weather is in the forecast: black ice in the morning; snow/ice mid week!  I may have to give in and buy boots yet!
