It was an uneventful crossing. The agent asked from the comfort of his window...our home state, how long would we be in Canada, did we have any weapons/ammo, cash in the amount of $10,000 or more, and were we leaving anything in Canada.
We were less than a mile to the east entry to the Going to the Sun Road in Glacier NP. Monday evening we drove to the entrance to the road, and it is still closed. There is too much snow on the road and a construction project. The park office said it would be the middle of June before the road is open.
We started our trek to the north into Alberta, Canada. This area is high prairie. There are acres and acres and acres of wheat fields as well as many herds of cattle.
We began driving toward the snow-covered mountains. We ran into and out of rain showers. It was a longer day than we originally planned, but arrived at Lake Louise Campground, Banff National Park, Alberta Canada.
We parked under tall pines with only electrical hook-ups and a train track directly in front of the MH. We drove to a couple of lakes...Lake Louise and Lake Moraine within the park.
I will see if a picture will download.
This is snow/ice covered Lake Louise surrounded by the snow-covered mountains.
These are the mountains around Lake Moraine.
This picture speaks for itself. The ranger told us at check-in that there were two grizzilies roaming the campground. |
We checked out prices at a local supermarket in Lake Louise. Glen was astounded by the price of one can of OFF insect spray: $15.99. Gary saw two cans of Bush's beans for $5.00.
Just dare me! Evelyn threatening to throw at Gary. |
We saw two of these critters at Lake Louise. It is the first time I have seen a porcupine not in a zoo.
Glen and I in front of a snow pile.
It was still daylight at 10:30 when we went to bed. And, daylight when I got up at 5:30 a.m. to go to the bathroom. I didn't stay up.
