July 3, 2014 Reuben Sandwches, bald eagles, pink salmon, and a grizzly bear. (Valdez)

The entire crew started the day by washing their towed vehicles of the grime and mud that accumulates. Glen and Jim also washed the bugs that were covering the front ends of their respective motor homes. Glen plans on finishing the motor home before we head to the next stop.

We walked to the marina and watched this fisherman display this big halibut.  He estimated it to be over 100 pounds.  There were 5 more smaller halibut, and several rock fish.

A fishing boat pulling in nets with many pink salmon.

Fishermen lined up to snag pink salmon.  Salmon don't bite bait; they are snagged with hook.

 Peek-a-boo!
Our educated guess is this is a three-year-old that has been kicked out by Mom, and is learning how to feed himself.  He was grazing on green grass at the side of the road.

There were also a dozen or so mature and immature bald eagles enjoying the salmon in the area where the fishermen were.  We also watched harbor seals and sea otters.

Chef Gary and sous chef Evelyn prepared Reuben sandwiches for everyone tonight.  Umm-mm delicious.
