A day-to-day description of our travels in our 40" diesel pusher--2005 Newmar Dutchstar. We are considered "full timers" as we have no 'sticks n bricks'. We spend the winter in south Texas, in spring and fall we visit family, and in between see the USA.

June 1-2, 2015 Pancakes
Glen and I visited the Second Fort---of Ft. Smith--yesterday afternoon. The original fort was built in 1817 on the point where the Poteau and Arkansas Rivers join. The original buildings were destroyed by accidental fires.
The second fort, built in the early 1800's before the beginning of the Civil War, only has two original buildings left. The above building was used as jail and court room of the "hanging judge, His Honor, Issac C Parker.
I didn't take a picture of the replica of the "gallows", where the hangings took place. Because the law mandated hanging for convictions of murder and rape, 160 were sentenced to death but only 79 were actually hanged. The Judge declared he personally was against the death penalty but because it was the Federal Law, he was mandated to use the death penalty.
The magnolia trees were in bloom around the parade ground. See the first picture.
As requested by Brady and Tanner this was "pancake day". A tradition of a pancake breakfast started when they were very young, and now takes place at least once during each of our stays.
Trisha had a dental appointment this morning; it was Part 2 of the root canal that was started last week. Today she learned a cap for the tooth is next!
Glen and I kept Tanner company while Trisha was at dentist. Tanner was in the throes of a migraine headache. He has been in pain most of the day. He didn't even feel like going to the soccer game tonight.
Jeff gave Brady a 1959 Evinrude 5 HP boat motor that has been stored in Jeff's dad's storage shed for the last many years. Jeff said the last he remembered the motor running was when he was about 16. Brady changed the spark plugs, put in new fuel from the new fuel tank, pulled about three times on the starter rope, and the motor STARTED. They don't make 'em like they used to! There's a few things that Brady is going to change--like the water pump. But, I do believe it is going to be just what Brady wants. There are a couple of small lakes near that Brady has been fishing from the shore. They will be looking for a small aluminum boat to put the motor on, and Brady will be a HAPPY fisherman!
We've just been invited to join the Burklow/Wilkinson clan for dinner in Ft. Smith. More later.
