How was your day?
That is just the way our day went.
**deliver the pick up to the garage for the installation of the items needed to tow behind the motor home.
**Darin meeting Glen at garage. Glen takes Darin to police department and drives Jeep to motor home.
**Three conversations with the insurance agent regarding supplemental and pharmacy coverage. Good news! my monthly premium will go down by several dollars.
**Pick up Ashlynn and Zade at school because we still have Darin's Jeep.
**Glen picks up Darin, goes by garage and learns the installation is not finished. Mechanic expects it to be finished in the morning.
**We stay with Ashlynn and Zade while Darin and Sarah go to "parent/teacher conference". Great reports for both children--as expected!
We are home, watching the first game of the World Series.
It has been "life as usual", nothing extraordinary, day!
Hope your day has been also.
A day-to-day description of our travels in our 40" diesel pusher--2005 Newmar Dutchstar. We are considered "full timers" as we have no 'sticks n bricks'. We spend the winter in south Texas, in spring and fall we visit family, and in between see the USA.

10-24-2015 Saturday ----Flag Football and Dinner
It was a drizzly day in Cape Girardeau.
Flag football is played in the drizzle. Flag football is watched in the rain, except for grandparents who park very close by and watch from the comfort of the pick up!
Zade's team lost, but he didn't care. I think it is a sign of a good team when the team members had a great time, whether it was a win or lose. The members switch around and play all positions.
We left immediately at the end of the game, heading to St. Charles, MO.
Arrangements had been made by Paul (Glen's only and youngest brother) and wife Pam to meet on Main Street in St. Charles.
This was the first time Glen and I had been in St. Charles. I had forgotten that it was the first capitol of Missouri (for four years). The city has done a very good job of promotion and welcoming visitors.
Tonight there was a "Pumpkin Glow" celebration along the historical south end of Main Street. There were many people walking along the sidewalks. The first restaurant where we stopped had a two and half hour wait to be seated! Too hungry for that wait.
We enjoyed patio seating at "The Old Millstream" Inn and Restaurant.
Another promotion is "CHRISTMAS TRADITIONS" WHERE THE MAGIC BEGINS, November 27 to December 24, 2015.
"This annual month long festival celebrates the best of the holiday season. From the boisterous cheer of our legendary Christmas figures and joyful singing of our harmonious carolers, to the unique shopping and dining opportunities found along the festively decorated brick lined streets, Christmas Traditions offers something special for everyone." excerpt from the 2015 Festival Guide.
Paul and Rachel are two of the "legendary Christmas figures" of the celebration. Paul assumes the role of "Scrooge", and Rachel is an "elf" that assists Santa. Paul strolls the streets in character and costume and greets the thousands that visit.
One of many displays of carved pumpkins along Main Street.
Pam, Charity, Rachel and Paul (Scrooge)!
Check out these prices! at Perryville, MO.
It is always great to see family!

10/20/15 New Wheels, New Ride at Our Place
A week ago yesterday we took possession of our new ride!
It is a 2015 GMC Sierra Denali, four-door, 4-WD (necessary to tow), diamond white in color, dark brown leather interior. We like, really like it.
It has all the "bells and whistles" imagineable, and may be smarter than us.
Today Glen had a fiberglass, painted to match, bed cover installed!
Next week all the necessary base plates, braking lines, for towing will be installed.

10-17-2015 Fall Flag Football
Zade is playing flag football during the month of October. Darin is the coach of the team.
Obviously there are no tackles. The object is to grab the "flag", in reality, a streamer, hanging from a belt around the waist. It is difficult to grab that streamer on a fast player zigging and zagging down the field.
The teams do have plays; they pass and there are receivers that catch (usually) the football. There are interceptions. There are three downs (not the usual four).
Throw it to me!
I am ready!
Zade, second from left, co-captain, meeting with the referees!
Zade and Coach Darin
Sarah and Ashlynn!
Notice the sweatshirts, and blankets. There was a cold north wind today!

October 11, 2015 (Sunday) Family Time
Mitch and Abby, Addison and Cash came by for a short visit before they headed back home. It does a heart good to see such a wonderful family.
Darin and Sarah, Ashlynn and Zade came by to share lunch. We enjoyed burgers and fries around the picnic table. Everyone then was ready for naps.
This evening we went to Darin/Sarah's home for more visiting. Ashlynn and Zade are growing up so quickly.
Tomorrow there are errands and grocery shopping. We are back to every day living.

10-10-15 Saturday - Central Time Zone (The Landing Point RV Park, Cape Girardeau MO)
After we worked late and finished the unpacking last night, we slept 'til 8:30.
We looked at each other and said "now, where?" We decided that everything was done in Indiana. We knew Ashlynn was having a sleep-over for her birthday celebration tonight.
We decided to add a surprise to her celebration and drive to Cape Girardeau. It is four lane all the way, with lots of construction, but made it in about 7 hours 30 minutes.
We parked the mh, and went to Darin/Sarah's home. After ringing the doorbell, several girls the age of Ashlynn came to answer with Ashlynn bringing up the rear.
Oh, my! what a surprise for her, and a welcome for us! We got hugs from all the girls, Zade, and Cash.
Darin's cousin, Mitch and wife Abby, their daughter Addison and son Cash, came for the party. It was a day of surprises as Ashlynn didn't know Addison was coming! Probably the squeals of excitement could be heard for several blocks.
We visited a few minutes and left the partying to the younger generation!!!
We are here for several weeks. As usual there are several things to get done: glasses repaired, prescription refills, hair cut, doctor/dental appointments.
P.S. we are liking the furniture more and more. The window shades are amazing.

October 9, 2015 (Friday) Happy Dance 2 (Bradd/Hall Parking Lot, Elkhart, IN)
Yes! We are out of Extended Stay Suites, Mishawaka, IN!
Yes! We are in the motorhome!!!! Home! New carpet, new furniture, new window shades!
This is a close up of the new colors! The colors aren't much different than the old--but, everything looks better-newer-cleaner-richer. There are also two new dining table chairs in the pinecone color.
New sofa and new recliner, and new carpet visible.
The old sofa was a sofa bed. This is NOT. It has a recliner on each end, with electric controls. The sofa color is called "doe"; the recliner color is called "pine cone".
We chose the electric controls for the recliners for a couple of reasons--it is easier on the ole legs; and it takes up less space than the hand/wooden handle.
The carpet color is called "oatmeal". The front seats are also the color "doe".
At the end of the sofa the new window shades are visible. We are gonna like them!
We have unloaded all of the boxes from the truck, brought them into the motorhome, and unpacked them and put it all away! We purged when we packed, and we purged some more when we unpacked!
We haven't yet made a decision where we are headed in the morning. You will know when we know.

October 7/8, 2015 (Wed/Thur) Happy Dance
Glen is home, safe and sound, and dragging his tail! very tired!
He didn't take the C-PAP with him, didn't want to have to carry it. He didn't sleep well as a result plus all of the emotions that occur at the reunion result in one tired hubby.
Happy dance! Glen is home.
At this time (nearly 1 p.m.) he has decided to rest rather than drive tractor/truck for Dave.
The reunion was well attended; 71 veterans registered.
Glen (D Co), Christopher Upham, author and film director/producer (Hdqtrs Co), and Bob Lunsford (Hdqtr Co)
Delta Company: back row, L to R: Donald Butynski, ??, Danny Lantz, Glen Hickey; front row: Don Dixon, Dan Hedrick, Ron Bakalarski, Jimmy Garner "The power of D Company"

October 5, 2015 Monday: Home Alone
Glen has enjoyed "working" for Dave harvesting soybeans. Here
are pictures from last Friday.
Combine unloading into the 18-wheeler.
Combine unloading into grain buggy.
I went with Glen. I rode in both the combine and the tractor.
Rain started in early afternoon, making it an early quitting time.
We spent the afternoon with Laurie and Dave. Friday evening we met David (Dave's oldest son) and Jennifer for dinner at a Mexican restaurant. BTW: the food was delicious.
Sunday morning Glen left from the South Bend Airport, flying to Reno via Chicago and Denver. It is time for the annual Dak To Reunion. Glen will return Wednesday afternoon.
I am reading and watching tv. The day goes by quickly. But, I do miss Glen and look forward to him returning. I am happy that he has gone. He looks forward to this gathering each year.
