We made a trip south to the 'lower valley' ....Mission, McAllen, Alamo, Donna, yesterday morning.
First on the agenda was crossing the border into "Progresso". We continue to be amazed at the number of dentists, pharmacies, optical doctors, jewelry vendors, purse vendors, beauty salons; even more amazing is the number of winter Texans there taking advantage of the "bargains".
We know people who go their for their dental work. Note to Dr. Gary: not us!
We ate lunch at the Red Snapper. For those worried or concerned about restaurant health issues, let me assure the Red Snapper is much more clean and modern than some of the restaurants here in Zapata! Does that make you feel better--ha, ha!
Today we ate lunch at the Holiday with the usual church group. There was an immediate need for a nap when we got home. :} We visited with several of the neighbors late in the afternoon.
My Gramps would say that you need to carry rocks in your pockets tomorrow. There is a "Red Flag Warning" issued from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday. Winds are forecast to be 30-40 mph from the North, with single digit humidity in the afternoon. Other than the usual wind concerns the low humidity coupled with the EXTREME dry conditions here equals a high fire danger.
I assume all this wind is associated with the next storm coming from the west into the central states. I know the Kansas City area is expecting as big a snow storm on Tuesday/Wednesday as they experienced last week. There won't be much sitting outside tomorrow!
