June 11, 2014 Tok to Anchorage, Alaska (The Golden Nugget RV Park, Anchorage, AK)

First day without the windshield wipers on...since we left Cape Girardeau about May 15.

This small lake had about 60 Trumpeter Swans.  It was awesome hearing them "trumpet" to one another across the water.

I am assuming these are nesting swans.  There were no cygnets on the water with the adults.

More road construction today.  One stretch was 5-miles, another stretch was 9-miles, with many "short" stretches.

The Matanuska Glacier.  It is visible from the highway for several miles.

This is awesome.

The same glacier.  I could have watched it for hours.

These are snow markers for the snow plows. They are 18- 20' tall.

Look hard for the herd of 20 mountain sheep about 2000' above us.

We arrived in Anchorage this afternoon.  We went directly to ABC RV Rentals.  We were checked out on the 24' class C motor home with NO slides that we have rented.  NO slides means "close quarters"!  It is sufficient for us for two weeks.  But, if it was longer than two weeks we would be looking for one with slides.  

Next stop was someplace to eat.  Breakfast at Fast Eddie's was a long time ago!  You will never guess what we chose.  No halibut...but a Mexican restaurant, La Hacienda.  It was close and not hard to find.

It was then on to Lowe's and Wal Mart.  At Lowe's we bought a roll of insulated foil.  At Wal Mart we bought enough groceries to have breakfast in the morning.  

The insulated foil has been cut to size for each window in the Class C to darken the room so we can sleep. Remember it is Alaska, the land of the Midnight Sun.  It is 10:15 and the sun is still shining.  I will have to check to see the official sunrise and sunset times.
