We are enjoying very much the time in Haines. This is a quiet community with great scenery. There is a cruise ship only once a week, compared to Juneau which has 5 in one day. The weather has been beautiful
Yesterday we absolutely did nothing except to sit on the edge of the water watching the boats and birds and orca whales. We thought it was dolphins but someone told us "probably was orcas."
We will be here until Thursday morning when we board the big car ferry at 7:45 and depart at 9:45. We will ride 40 hours to Prince Rupert, British Columbia. It is then a mere 700 miles to the US.
There is no internet at the RV park. We are now at the library and their service is extremely s-l-o-w. I will post pictures later.
We drove this morning to a fish cannery but the production line was not "producing." We will go back at 9 a.m. Tuesday to see the cannery in action.
Tonight the rv park is hosting a crab boil. We buy the Dungeness crab--$10 per crab, one is enough for one person. "Buffalo" the park host will cook the crab, and the diners also bring a side dish. We are looking forward to the tasting of Dungeness crab.
Don't give up on the blog. We will be back on a regular basis as soon as possible. Isn't is "funny" how dependent we have become on the internet.
