11-30-15 Monday Night

It has been another rainy day in the Ozarks.  There has been drizzle all day.

A rainy day equals a good day to do laundry.  I took advantage of the laundry facilities at our daughter's home.

Glen had prescriptions refilled at WalMart.

A rainy day equals a good day for napping!  Glen and I both filled time in between laundry loads to have a nap!

There are some problems with Blogger allowing me to download photos.  I can't download.  If it doesn't clear up soon, I may be forced to look for another site.

Stay tuned.

11-29-15 Sunday Night: the end of Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving has come and gone.

We spent the day with Trisha, Jeff, Landon and Natalie, Brady and Tanner.

Trisha is a wonderful chef!  There was turkey and ham, mashed potatoes and gravy, sweet potatoes, two kinds of dressing/stuffing--one with mushrooms and one without, marinated mushrooms, green beans, corn casserole, and hot rolls.  Then there was dessert--pumpkin roll, pecan pie, and apple pie.

Brady worked every day of the Thanksgiving break except Thanksgiving day.  He puts in lots of hours but enjoys the dollars it brings in.

It has RAINED since 7:30 Thanksgiving night.  There has been a total of five inches.  We have naturally kept indoors.

Last evening when Brady got off work at 5:00 we all met him at "Fuji's", the favorite Japanese hibachi restaurant.

Tanner had requested "pancakes by Grammy" this morning.  Actually I helped him prepare the pancakes.

We played cards until time for Landon to go back to college, about 11:30.  Brady worked (again) from 8-5.  After a break this afternoon for the Sunday paper and a nap, we again played cards.

It has been a great Thanksgiving.  We miss our family that we were away from, but can't be in 2 or 3 or 4 places at once.

Jeff is flying tomorrow, and everyone else goes back to school.

Right now we are making plans to leave on Wednesday.

11-25-15 Actually it is Midnight: Happy Thanksgiving!

HAPPIEST OF THANKSGIVINGS TO YOU!

It is just past midnight.  Glen and I will be the first to wish you a happy Thanksgiving.

We hope you are with family, friends, keeping company with someone that needs someone, just not alone.

Our chosen lifestyle has allowed us to add many friends to our list of blessings, to see family members, and to appreciate our country.

Our extended family has jobs, or are retired, are in school, has no major health issues.  WE HAVE MANY BLESSINGS.

We are blessed to live where we can travel without hinderances.

Have a great day.  Our love to all of you.

11-19-15 Arkansas Traveler (Sebastian County Fairgrounds, Greenwood, AR)

I think I mentioned that we were traveling to North Little Rock yesterday afternoon to stop at a "SpeedCo" business.

We arrived at 5:30 yesterday afternoon with one truck being worked on, and two in line in front of us.  You will NEVER guess what time the work was finished.  Never ever guess!

12:30, yes, thirty minutes past midnight.  There was only one crew working, taking over an hour on each rig.

Thankfully,at that time we pulled around to the back of the business, parked, and stayed overnight there.

We left this morning with a three hour trip ahead of us to Greenwood AR.

We are set up at the fairgrounds.

Trisha, Jeff, and Brady came to the MH to see the "new" work.  We got caught up on family news.  Brady picked up Tanner and we all met at the local Mexican restaurant for dinner.

Tanner had two tests to study for; Brady had a paper to finish which will be submitted with other admission papers.

It is Brady's senior year.  He is realizing that he is nearly half through this year.  He is a busy young man; he is doing half-day high school, half day college, and working 20 hours a week.

11-18-15 Waiting at Speedco, North Little Rock, AR

We were 'up and at 'em' early (for us) this morning.

We were able to find a parking space in front of the dental ofice. There was time for a short visit with our friend, Pat, while waiting our turn in the hygenist' chair.

Lunch was "China Garden" in Poplar Bluff.  This is our favorite Chinese restaurant.  In our travels over the USA, we have good restaurants, but none as good as "China Garden".

After lunch we headed south on Highway 67 until we reached North Little Rock.  We are awaiting our turn at Speedco.  Speedco does the oil change and lube on the motorhome and generator.  There are three rigs in front of us, about 90 minutes of waiting.

If Speedco will allow us, we will just park on the back lot here overnight, and head west in the morning to Greenwood AR.

Nov 17, 2015 "Alvin and the Chipmunks"/ Last night in Cape Girardeau

First: it is raining buckets!  Flash flood warnings declared.

Second: this is the last night this year in Cape Girardeau.  We said good night to Ashlynn, Zade, and Sarah tonight.  Darin is still in the deer woods.

Third:  We escorted Ashlynn and Zade to the ShowMe Center here in Cape Girardeau tonight to see "Alvin and the Chipmunks Live on Stage".  Ashlynn and Zade enjoyed it very much.  They both knew all the music.  Poppy and I thought it was LOUD!

We will be on our way to Poplar Bluff in the morning for dental appointments.  We plan on spending the night in Arkansas Wednesday night.

11-15-2015 Sunday Night Countdown

I didn't look back to see when I last posted, but there has been nothing going on except "life".

Darin is deer hunting on a farm with his father in law.

Sarah's mother spent last night with Sarah and the kids.  The "girls"--Sarah, Vicky, and Ashlynn were going shopping today.  Zade called to see if he could stay with us rather than shopping.

Of course he can!  We enjoy his humor and conversation.

It is countdown 'til we are leaving Cape Girardeau.

There are appointments Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday.  Wednesday morning we will drive the rig to Poplar Bluff, visit with our dentist, professionally and personally, then head south.  We plan to stop in North Little Rock that afternoon.

Glen has located a "SpeedCo" in North Little Rock that will change oil, and lube the chassis, service the generator.  Thursday we will drive on to our parking place just south of Ft. Smith, AR.

11-12-15 Happy Birthday to Sarah; Improvement to Directv

Today is our favorite daughter in law's birthday.  Happy Birthday to Sarah!

Celebration dinner tonight was at Clippard Elementary School.  It was chili supper night, fundraiser for the PTA!

Today Directv came to improve our service with the addition of a Genie and two mini-genies.  The Genie receives HD signal for the front TV; and transmits wirelessly the HD signal to the mini-genies attached to the bedroom and basement televisions.  Hurray!  The picture quality is much improved.

We also can watch Show A in the front and Show B in the bedroom at the same time!  The recording capabilities have improved to 5 different shows at one time!

11-9-15 Overnight Guests

Saturday night Ashlynn and Zade spent the night with us.  They each sleep on a twin air mattress in the floor of the living room.

They also stayed all Sunday.  There was some scooter riding, some rock climbing, swinging, skipping rocks in the creek at the edge of the RV park.  We enjoy them very much.

 Super hero pose.

Tonight was the last flag football game.  It is truly "football" weather.  It was 39 degrees at six p.m.  The team didn't qualify for the play-offs!  Zade had a great game in a losing effort tonight.

A mobile RV wash truck and crew are scheduled to come in the morning to clean the RV.  I wonder if the cold morning temp will delay the arrival time.

Have a great week.

November 1-6, 2015 First Week

Eek!  The days are going by so quickly!  The first week of November is almost gone.

When I last left you, Jan and Bruce were coming to Cape Girardeau on Sunday, Novermber 1.  They arrived safely.

Darin, Ashlynn and Zade joined us for dinner at Panera's Sunday night.  Sarah was under the weather--recovering from a "bug".

Monday the four of us drove to Patton MO, looking for a certain type of trailer for Bruce and Jan.  They are looking for a trailer to haul their motorcycle.  We didn't find what they were looking for.

On the return trip we took them to Bollinger Mill and Covered Bridge.  They had never been there.

By then, it was time for Jan to be seen by Dr. Sarah.  Sarah discovered some hearing loss; Jan is currently giving hearing aids a trial run.

Speaking has her older sister, I can say I thought the devices were helping, as soon as Tuesday morning when we had breakfast together!

During the week we picked up the kids from school a couple of afternoons.
Glen took the pick up back to the GMC dealer to have the tires checked.  There is a bounce at interstate speeds that shouldn't be there.

After a couple of hours at the tire shop and the tires being re-balanced, the bounce is still there.
We drove to Poplar Bluff today.  The bounce could still be felt. Glen made another appointment this next week for more investigation.

This last Sunday Sarah's grandmother, age 94, passed away.  We went to the celebration of life service this morning.  Her son, Sarah's uncle, conducted the service.  It was personal and loving and a lovely tribute.

Tonight we went to the "River City Players Follies", a local theater group.  Tonight was the last performance of the season.  Each player performed a skit, song, guitar, original music, of their choice.

A dinner buffet was served before the Follies.

November 1, 2015 Sunday Night

How can it be a new month? and Spring Forward  Fall Back time!

Someone asked me what we had been doing?  Just life--think that is a Tony Bennett song.

Glen took the pick up to a garage to have base plate (for towing) installed.  The one day job turned into a day and half!

I had the best massage ever this past week.

We met long time friends, Donna and Tom; and Sandy and Jim, at the Hickory Log Restaurant in Dexter, MO Thursday night.

When we returned from Dexter we picked up Ashlynn and Zade; they spent the night with us as there was no school on Friday.

Friday morning there was a one-time special opening of "Grammy's House of Pancakes".  At mid-day we went to their home so they could have more to play with.

Saturday Coach Darin and Zade had a flag football game.  Zade sat in the truck with us and watched from there.  He had been fighting a cough and runny nose for two-three days.

This afternoon my favorite sister Jan and husband Bruce arrived in Cape Girardeau.  We all, including Darin, Ashlynn and Zade, met at the Panera Restaurant for dinner and visiting.

Jan has an appointment with Dr. Sarah Hickey, Audiologist, tomorrow afternoon.  I am sure we will find something to fill the time before and after the appointment.

As I said:  "Just Life!"
