July 18, 2016 (Monday) Ainsworth Nebraska City Park--Hickey Family Caravan begins!

I will start by saying we arrived in Passaic Mo last evening, just five miles from Evelyn and Gary's.

I did two loads of laundry at their home while we visited with them.

We were on the road by 8:30 a.m. after filling the MH with fuel.

It has been a nine-hour day, arriving at Ainsworth Nebraska at 5:30 this evening.   We are at the city park.  It has electiricity for $10 per night.  There is water available as well as a dump station.

We plan on arriving at Custer SD tomorrow afternoon, joining Marcella and Jeff for the first leg of the Family Caravan.

The past week was spent at Alley Springs Campground, National Scenic Riverways, Eminence MO.  The campground is on the banks of the Jacks' Fork River.

Trisha, Jeff, Landon, and Tanner also arrived last Monday.  The week consisted of lots of swimming, canoeing/rafting/kayaking, eating, visiting, and several games of "Washers"!

Natalie and boyfriend Drew arrived on Wednesday.

I am guest-i-mating that there were 75-85 Whittle descendants and familes were in attendance.

The weather was just right for playing in the river.  There was one 10-minute rain shower.

My grandparents, Fannie and Olia Whittle, were the parents of 9 children, including my father Gail.  There is one daughter surviving, Aunt Lois, age 85 of Iowa.  The other attendees are the grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great children of Olia and Fanny.

We have seen acres and acres, thousands of acres of corn, soybeans, alfalfa.  There has been thousands of big round bales of hay in fields.  North of Kansas City the fields were filled with standing water.  The last few miles of the days the irrigation systems have been active.
