August 11, 2016 Dungeness NWR, Sequim WA

Mark one of those projects "finished"!

Glen checked the air in the inside dually tire this morning.  It was low--again!  We made necessary preparations and drove to "Les Schwab" Tire Shop.  Employees at Les Schwab was very impressive.

Glen had barely stopped on lot when employee told him to move to "that" area.  By the time Glen stopped the employee had all necessary tools and was at work.  It was discovered the valve stem was leaking.  It was replaced.

Work time was about 30 minutes.  Glen was pleased with the charges.  We drove back to RV park.

The rest of the family were exploring the area.
We drove to Dungeness National Wildlife Refuge on the north side of town.

The driftwood along the Spit is massive.

After lunch break we visited the "Purple Haze Lavender Farm".  There are 50 varities of "certified organic lavender" on 12 acres.  The peak bloom was in July.  There was enough color to get a feel for the beauty.

The honey bees were busy!

There was also this beautiful bed of brown-eyed susans.

Inhale.  Sniff.  Ah, the scent of drying lavender.

Lavender is beautiful; is floral; but does not make good ice cream.  This was "white chocolate lavender" flavored.

Sequim, pronounced "sqim", was once filled with dairy farms.  About 20 years ago the dairy industry started slowing down.  The town fathers/mothers met to choose what could entice tourists to this area.  It was discovered that "lavender" could grow here.  There is now the sweet aroma of success!

(I must confess I find Lavender to be beautiful, but am not fond of its aroma!)

Plans are made for tomorrow afternoon!  Stay tuned.
