Monday: frustration, high blood pressure, and solutions Caution: rant ahead!
RE: no Directv service
I can't remember if I mentioned in the last blog that we have had no satellite service since last Monday. DIRECTV tried to tell us in three different calls that it was the fault of the satellite dish. After an hour-long call (call #4) Monday morning with someone in the Philippines (I asked) I gave up on getting anything accomplished. I made a second call to Wineguard (the maker of the dish on the roof).
The technician had us click on a certain screen on the tv which then had no picture/image. She said to call DIRECTV. I laughed and related that I had already been on the phone over an hour with them. This is important: she said to call, ask to speak to someone IN THE UNITED STATES. It worked. That lady had a technician scheduled to come to our location in the afternoon between 4 and six p.m.
Be mindful the phone tech in the Philippines had told me that basically no tech could come to our location, we had to be at our billing address. The Philippine tech had told me that Wineguard had a mutual agreement with DIRECTV, that they would send out the tech.
The Wineguard tech in Iowa laughed and said they had no technicians, they only offered phone support! It was a mess.
End of story and positive solution! The lady in the US understood was going on, and in four minutes had a tech scheduled to arrive in the afternoon. The DIRECTV technician arrived, used his signal meter, repaired wires/rusty connectors, and we have service! If only I had known to call to the US in the first place.
Positive news!
Glen's sister Mildred and husband Doug are also parked in their RV at Coachlight RV. We were able to visit with them.
Yesterday afternoon friends Janice and Richard G. who lived in Poplar Bluff 45 years ago, went on to live and work and retire in Connecticut, now live in the Carthage, MO area, came by the MH and were able to visit a couple of hours.
Tuesday
This morning Mildred and Doug's two daughters, Jennifer and Lindsey, and their children came by the RV park. We were able to have short visits with them.
We traveled to Passaic RV Park, Passaic MO, which is located between Butler and Adrian MO. Population in Passaic is 40!
We have had time to visit with Evelyn and Gary, and enjoy two meals with them.
We will be leaving in the morning, traveling south to Highway 54, heading across Kansas! We will go to the Colorado Springs CO area, looking for cooler temperatures, then next week visit with friends (from Poplar Bluff) who now live in Castle Rock.
