"Westward, Ho!"
We traveled west through the state of Kansas on Highway 54 to Dodge City. There is not much to take pictures of.
The temperatures rose the farther west we traveled. It was 102 degrees when we reached Dodge City.
Dodge City still has the huge "feed lots", filled with cattle. We also saw hundreds of 18-wheelers loaded with cattle, pulling into a slaughter facility.
We were beginning to despair of finding an RV park in or near Colorado Springs for any combinations of number of days. Everything is "booked through the middle of August". Glen had the good idea to check with the Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs. Service (Air Force, Army, Navy, etc) bases sometimes houses an RV park.
The Air Force Academy has a park, and found a site for us for three days starting tomorrow. Starting on the 23rd we will be in Buena Vista Colorado for several days. We assume we will be finding cooler temperatures the higher in elevation we go!
Looking forward to checking out Colorado Springs and points of interest.
