Thursday was one more day of driving. I am not sure there are too many straight roads in Maine.
We left Vermont, drove through New Hampshire, and made it to Maine.
Let's count the states we have driven through this trip:
Missouri, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, Pennsylvania, New York, Vermont, New Hampshire, and Maine
Jeff and Marcella, and Doug and Mildred, Dick and Myrna arrived minutes before us. In Ellsworth Maine, we came to a halt because of an accident in an intersection. It took approximately 30 minutes to go through a shopping mall around the scene. We could see a car, and a boat trailer, and a boat upside down in the middle of the intersection.
Five of the six Hickey siblings are here. Missing you, Paul and Pam! Here's the clan: Myrna (and Dick), Evelyn (and Gary), Glen (and Gayla), Marcella (and Jeff), Mildred (and Doug).
This is what we encountered after the "Pavement Ends" sign. Highway 9, Vermont.
The reward at the end of Day 5 involved a meal, a lobster meal, of course. I have pictures of us enjoying the meal on my phone but for some reason I can't get it to transfer. Maybe later. (The pictures were on FB yesterday.)
Today it was necessary to find a Walmart pharmacy. BTW, Lubec Maine does not have a pharmacy at all. It was 50 miles to the nearest Walmart, Calais, Maine. But I needed medicine refills. Jeff and Marcella also went with us. Doug and Mildred, and Evelyn went in a separate truck.
This afternoon I put away the groceries. Glen put out a hummingbird feeder as well as a seed and suet feeder. Hopefully we will have some feathered guests.
The rest of the group, except Myrna and Dick, went to The Wharf tonight for a lobster meal. It was as good as last night.
After leaving the restaurant we we driving along the bay, and Doug spied this bald eagle. That is Campbell Island, Canada, in the background. We will be visiting the island at some point in this stay. Details of the island at that point.
The day ended with Marcella, Evelyn, and Glen enjoying a musical minute or 30. The mosquitoes finally called a halt to the session.
