July 2, 2018 Still at The Landing Point RV Park, Cape Girardeau MO And....A BIG SURPRISE

Where oh where did June go?

July, already???

Summer hibernation started about the time of the last blog.

There has been high temperatures, high humidity, storms, rain, lightning, thunder, rain.  There has been several days of heat indices of 100-105 and 105-plus.  We have stayed indoors for much of the time.

Tonight was the last regular season game for Zade and his baseball team.  It has been a "character building" season, a polite way of saying "not winning many games"!  But, the team has learned skills, had fun, listened to the coaches.  I think there will be a tournament, but doubt the team goes farther than the first round.  I hope I am pleasantly surprised.

We have gone a couple of times in the past few weeks to Poplar Bluff to visit with friends, Tom and Donna.  We have been friends since before kids!

The days are dwindling down to a precious few here in Cape--at least for this session.  We will be leaving Sunday, driving to Alley Springs National Scenic Riverways Campground near Eminence MO.  This is approximately the 36th year for this gathering of cousins, spouses, their children, and their children.  Most years there are approximately 100 gathered together.

We can only hope for cooler temperatures.

Note: there is no internet/cell service in the campground.  We have to go to the "top of the hill" or into the town of Eminence to catch up on texts, calls, and email.  Please contact us with anything important, we will check daily on correspondence.

The next Sunday, the 15th, we will leave the family reunion, and head to Maine, with stops in Illinois, Ohio, NY, and Vermont before arriving in Lubec Maine on the 19th, for a month.  All four of Glen's sisters and their spouses/companions will join us there.  We are looking forward to....COOLER temperatures (in the 60's), lobster, lobster, and more lobster, as well as the time together.

The Big Surprise....
After much discussion Glen and I have chosen to find a "home base".  We will still be South Dakotains, but are having a house built for us to use when not traveling.  We will be in Jackson MO which is only one mile from Cape Girardeau MO (located in SE Missouri, halfway between St. Louis and Memphis TN).

The new house will be two miles from our son and family.  It will be located in an '55 and over' community.  The community will take care of mowing, snow removal, gutter cleaning, etc etc.  The new house will be three bedrooms, two baths, one floor/no steps.  The papers are signed, and there is an estimated completion date of December 11.

Extensive traveling may - or may not- slow down.  We are keeping the RV, still going to Texas for the winter months.  At this point we just are not sure what the future will hold.

Are you surprised? shocked?
