November 29, 2016 Sigh. Time is winding Down. Leaving. (Last night in Greenwood AR)

How can two weeks go by so quickly?

This time with Trisha, Jeff, Tanner, Brady, Natalie, and Landon has been special.  We have enjoyed every moment.

There has been cards, special meals, meal prep by Tanner "Flay", chemistry lessons, some shopping, eating out.  Tanner has a quick wit, and can make you laugh until there are tears running down your cheeks.

Brady is excited about college, and his project truck.  He is maturing and is a fine young man.

Natalie is busy with MANY senior year projects.  She was football homecoming queen.  As a result of that honor she has been invited to be a part of the Liberty Bowl parade, half time activities, touring St. Jude's Hospital the last week end of this year.

She is filling out scholarship forms, writing essays, and maintaining a 4.0 GPA.

Landon is on leave from the Air Force.  He is seeing his friends, visiting family.

Jeff has resumed duties as a Captain (pilot) with American Airlines.  His home airport is Dallas.

Trisha, like all teachers, is counting down the days until Christmas Break.  She is the Rock that keeps this family together and on schedule, and where they should be.  She is awesome.

Somehow this family brag time just slipped off the tips of my fingers.  We are proud of everyone.

11-26-2016 Great family afternoon

The afternoon and evening have been spent with Trisha, Jeff, Brady and Tanner.

We consumed more leftovers.  We are making a big dent in them.

We played lots and lots of cards--Spite and Malice/Skip Bo, and Spades.

Tomorrow Brady will go back to college.  It has been great spending time with him.  Being away at college has matured him, made him more responsible, much more grown up.  In other words, an adult!!

11-25-16 High School Football, Greenwood, AR

40 degrees,
wearing layers,
see your breath,
stomp your feet,
yell 'Defense',
High Five with complete strangers!

It's a WIN.  We are going to State!

A win, another game.  Next Saturday night.
One more win.  We will be the state champions.

It was a close one tonight.
31-30.
The other team beat us last year for the state championship.

#44--Drew D., plays all defense, and some offense,
boyfriend of Natalie, our step-granddaughter.
Natalie--head trainer for the team.
She knows tape, and how to wrap it!

It's high school football.

The back up quarterback goes out of the game with a concussion.
#4, regular quarterback, has a bad shoulder.  He's slow to get up.  He runs the ball on a lot of plays.

Are you warm?  Thank goodness, there's no wind.

It's a win tonight.
Wow, what a game.  Intense.

11-24-2016 HAPPY THANKSGIVING

There may have been more dishes (of food) than people today for lunch at Trisha and Jeff's.

Trisha and Tanner (we are now calling him Tanner Flay) did a great job of doing most of the preparation yesterday.

Of course there was snacking all afternoon, as well as most people taking a nap!  The evening was completed with a few games of "Skip Bo" (also called "Spite and Malice")

Trisha and Jeff

Sitting: Natalie B., Gayla and Glen;  Standing: Landon B., Jeff, Trisha, Tanner W., Brady W.
*B--Burklow (Jeff's children)  **W--Wilkinson (Trisha's boys)
Lots of food!

Trisha and Jeff braved the crowds and went to the local Walmart at six.  They said the parking lot was overflowing!  No Thursday/Friday shopping for us!

Brady is home from college.  No freshman 20/pounds for him.  In fact he may have lost ten pounds.  I asked him what was the "most surprising" thing about college for him.  His reply.."how easy!"  Good for him.

Landon is home for several days from the Air Force.  He will leave from here to go to California --next AF assignment.  He graduated "first in class/with honors" from the last training session.

November 20, 2016 Family Fun (AR'D: 11-18-16 Fairgrounds, Greenwood, AR)

We arrived in Greenwood AR mid-day Friday.

We gathered with Trisha, Jeff, Tanner, Natalie, (and Drew--Nat's boyfriend) Friday evening.

Saturday Trisha and family did some Christmas shopping.  We met them for lunch.  At the end of the day we shared a pot of homemade soup at Trisha's home.

Trisha prepared chili for dinner tonight for all of us.

Tuesday night Brady will be home from college, and Landon will arrive on leave from the Air Force (Virginia).

Landon will have several days at home, then will travel to a base in California.

Trisha and I are preparing the menu for Thursday and making lists.  Bet that sounds familiar to you!

November 17, 2016 Go West, Young Man! Go West (Parking Lot at Speedco, Joplin, Mo)

We consulted with our family doctor this morning.  All reports were good.  A reason for Thanksgiving.

We then headed west, almost directly into a strong west/southwest wind.

Tonight's sunset was on full view, full of colors, and swirly clouds.

We will be at Trisha's tomorrow around mid-day.

This looked as if there might be two suns in the skies, an optical illusion!

November 15, 2016 End of Flag Football Season

Tonight's game did not have the ending that the Patriots' team and coaches were hoping for!  The final score was 14-26.  Zade's team ended in fourth place overall for the two leagues.

Zade and team played hard, but it is difficult to stop speedy, long-legged opponents!

Zade is now on a sport's break until the first of the year when he will learn basketball!  This is one sport that he has never played.  Coach Jeff from the flag football team and Darin will be coaching the basketball team.

Glen and I are both singing the commercial "look, mom, no cavities!"  Obviously I remember the phrase but can't remember the brand of the toothpaste.  Do you?

It is official-- our dentist and his wife will be retiring on June 1.  We have been patients for 37 years and friends longer than that!  They will be moving to the Nashville area to enjoy the company of their four grandchildren.

November 14, 2016 Monday night Part 2

Our lives slip back into "routine" when we are not on the road.  As evidenced by the past month, daily blogs are difficult to write.

I suggest you sign up on this page for "notification by email" if you don't want to check in every day.  Obviously, you are notified in your mailbox/email when a blog is posted.

It makes no difference to me.  I am just offering an alternative to daily check ins.

I do appreciate each and everyone of you readers.  It helps to envision you sitting with your cup of coffee when I write on the road, or having a day adventure.

Take care.  I am not giving up the blog, just slowing down until the next big road trip.

November 14, 2016 MOONSHINE, FLAG FOOTBALL (Still at Landing Point RV Park, Cape Girardeau, MO)

The past week has been routine.

Gymnastics, flag football practice, two doctors' appointments.  Seems like there one more big thing on Tuesday.....oh, yes, Election.

We don't miss the commercials.

By virtue of having only two losses in the regular flag football season, Zade and team played in the first round of play-offs tonight.  His team, the Patriots, #2, played the #1 team....and lost.

Tomorrow night Zade's team will play for third/fourth place.

It was true football weather...we needed a blanket, gloves, stocking hat, socks, and layers of clothes.

The moon was rising over the football field.  I don't have the correct lens/camera to take a good picture of the "closest" moon since 1948.

Tomorrow we will drive to Poplar Bluff for dental appointments.  Our friend/dentist and his wife/dental assistant, will be retiring in the spring.  I don't know if we will have one more appointment or not.

There is one more doctor's appointment for each of us on Thursday morning.  We will be packed and ready to hit the road as soon as the appointment is over.  We will go to Joplin to have the yearly service appointment for the motorhome at Speedco Thursday evening.  Speedco is open until ten p.m. so no problem with arriving late in the day.

Have a great week.  Are you making your grocery list and menu for Thanksgiving?

November 1, 2016 INTENSE!

Glen and I went to the theater tonight.  We viewed "Deepwater Horizon".

This movie was based on the real events.  The 'Deepwater Horizon' was an oil well owned by BP 43-48 nautical miles from New Orleans.  In 2010 it exploded.  It burned for 87 days after the explosion, and 210 million gallons of oil spread into and on and over the Gulf of Mexico.

All but eleven of the crew escaped the fiery explosions and havoc caused by the fire.

The cause of the fire/explosions was GREED on the part of BP.  The crew called it the "well from hell"; the schedule was behind 48 days.  BP personnel would not admit there were problems with the well, and pushed the crew to keep on drilling.

To say the least, it was intense.  But, a good movie.

That's two movies for us this year.  That is about our average.  Both movies were great.  We would recommend both--"Deepwater Horizon", and "Sully".

We are using the internet service provided by the park.  The strength is sometimes "iffy".  Last night there wasn't enough to load pictures.

Here is our trick 'n' treaters from last night.

Uncle Sy, and Willie (Darin)
